Last week of summer break...

Addy and I knew it had to come at some point and time, but I don't think we were or are ever ready for it! I've been trying to prep Addyson for the transition back to school, but I don't know how helpful it was. I was trying to remind her of all the fun things at her school - friends, lunch, playground time, story time, circle time, new toys, and caring teachers. But I know, because I would too, that she really just wants to spend her time together with Mommy and Addy time.

We had a fun time in this last week of summer, but the transition was a little rough for both of us. Addyson, cries and hugs me with what feels like a death grip when I have dropped her off at school these past three days. And I have surely lost most all of my working stamina, leaving me exusted with a pounding head. When I picked Addyson up on Tuesday, she kept telling me, "Sorry I lost you Mommy!" Broke my heart. I tried to explain that since she knew where I was she didn't loose me. I don't think she really understood, though.

Hopefully by the time I really need to be on my A game this Tuesday, I'll be ready. And hopefully when Josh starts dropping Addy off at school on Monday, that she has a little bit of a less traumatic transition time at school.

Its August...

The time when you start seeing back to school commercials with smiling parents and frowning kiddos. And its the time when I relate so much more to the kids than to their parents. I'm excited to see my teacher friends again and shop for back to school outfits, but nervous about my classes and feeling that I'm never going to be prepared.

I remember back in elementary school, the same feeling. I think it was the night before I was starting 6th grade when I told my mom how nervous I was for the upcoming school year. Being a teacher herself she had some insight and said, "I think your teacher is more nervous than you are!" So, yes, the nerves are still there and although I might not be more nervous than my students, I'm still at least JUST AS nervous, maybe more than some.

It fit in as much summer as we can before the dreaded ;) school year this past week, we've taken a trip to Shady Maple, my classroom, worked on her creative side, and visited the Vendrick's in Middletown.

Addyson tried out ALL of the shopping carts at Shady Maple on our shopping trip!

She ended up with a shopping cart of her own following Pop Pop, GG and Mom Mom

Addyson is a fan of my room!

Helping to hang posters

And took some time out for a snack and Finding Nemo

She is becoming quite the artist! This is her "alligator" but I was REALLY impressed!

A fan of puzzles too!

Playing with Brenna and Grayson. Thanks again Bret and Dana! Addyson LOVES your house!!

The Last Two Weeks :)

OK. I know, I know. I've been very neglectful to this blog lately, so here is an update of our last two weeks.

FACE PAINTING or PAINT FACE (as Addyson calls it)
Addyson LOVES to paint, especially her face and her hands. Whenever she sees paint, this is all that she wants to do...
And I think she's getting pretty good at it!

ELECTRIC RUN
Originally, we  had just planned for Pop to watch Addyson while we all went to run. But, thankfully he agreed to take Addyson in the stroller! :) So we all got to enjoy this glowing night. Unfortunately, right before we started running, lightning joined the party. And thankfully we were able to run,  no one got hurt, and we will be able to run again for FREE next year! Addyson really enjoyed the run too, but she was getting a little tired towards the end of the night.

Hanging out before the race with Mimi
Capriotti's for dinner

Warming Up

The finish line

VISITING MOM MOM and POP POP
Once they returned home from exploring national parks in their tear drop trailer, we stopped by for a fun visit! Addyson enjoyed the Oxford Memorial Playground, Library, baby pool and their company!
I enjoyed their help with Addyson!

Black Cherry Preserves (a gift from their trip)

And of course Bear Feet Socks!
AROUND OUR HOUSE
Addyson was the first one of our home grown strawberries. It was the first one of the season, but our second year with the plant.

And lots of baths. I wasn't paying very close attention to this one, and almost overflowed the tub!!

AROUND MIMI AND POPS
Addyson is SUCH and animal lover! Every animal on Round Stone Farm gets at least twenty hugs whenever we visit. Even the chickens!

And Thank you Mimi and Pop for all of your help with Addyson! They watched her one night so that we could attend the Lumineer's concert!
BABY PARADE 2013
Last year we were beaten by Elvis. But this year, we were victorious thanks to an awesome pirate ship build by Pop Pop!
Addyson had such a great time!! She LOVED waving and throwing her gold coins to the crowd! And she was thrilled with the dance party entertainment at the end of the parade. She even gave Ronald McDonald a high five!!! But was so so happy with her "surprise" trophy (with a baby in their underwear on top).

We also made a stop at the Cape May County Zoo

And on the way home, I had a nice lunch date with Addyson
PHILLIES GAME
And to finish up this update. This past weekend, we took Addyson to her second Phillies game. She enjoyed it, but its still hard for her to sit in a seat for an extended period of time. She did love clapping, trying to catch a ball, and cheering on Chooch!
